Wild, Cheryl Strayed — almost there

9/11/12: Nearing the 80% point of the book. I am totally engaged, predicting, hoping and cringing at the possible negative outcomes of some of Cheryl’s self-sabotaging activities as she enters Oregon. It’s as if the ways of our hearts and souls, our habits don’t want to die off, even when they’ve been denied life for so long and through such discipline. Given a chance, the old ways crop right back up. She is showing some minor restraint, some forethought before jumping in, some natural self-care that comes with self-love, but I worry each time she meets a new man.
