The Talented Mr. Ripley, Patricia Highsmith

9/20/12: Just started this and was hooked from the first sentence. The weaving of psychopathy with mundane behavior of a somewhat likable boy has big potential. The language in the first few paragraphs assures me it will pay off.  I have not seen the movie, though I know very loosely the path down which this first of the three part series will begin Ripley’s charismatic descent.
